Everton: Tyler Dibling reunion could tempt Southampton into Leo Scienza sale

Everton should offer Tyler Dibling back to Southampton on loan if they want to seal a move for standout Championship winger Leo Scienza.

Dibling has failed to make an impact on Merseyside this season since joining in a club-record £40million move from the Saints last summer.

He only started four Premier League games for the Toffees in the first half of the campaign, and has featured for just six minutes off the bench in the last three-and-a-half months.

David Moyes is planning to make wholesale changes to his attacking options in the summer window, with Southampton star Scienza reportedly on their radar.

It would make sense for Everton to offer Dibling to the Championship outfit on loan to get a deal over the line for Scienza.

Leo Scienza and Tyler Dibling swap seems realistic for Everton

Scienza is highly regarded as one of the best attackers in the second tier after firing Southampton to this weekend’s play-off final.

Sky Sports Germany‘s new report claims that the Saints are set to demand around £26m for his services this summer, and he does not have a release clause, with Everton in the race to agree a deal alongside Tottenham, Aston Villa, Roma and Atalanta.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Scienza is keen on joining a Premier League side, and the prospect of moving to Everton will surely appeal, especially if Southampton remain a Championship side ahead of next term.

The Toffees are facing some stern competition for his signature, so should utilise Dibling’s close links to Southampton to get a deal over the line for Scienza.

It is clear that the 20-year-old will struggle for minutes under Moyes in 2026-27, so a loan move away from Merseyside could well be on the cards.

His return to Southampton, who are bound to be chasing promotion if they are not already in the top flight, will surely appeal to all parties involved.

Everton should propose a temporary deal for Dibling to go to Southampton alongside some cash to sweeten the deal for Scienza and potentially give themselves an advantage over the competition for the Brazilian winger.

Moyes’ comments about Dibling should hint at summer exit

Dibling has remained an unused substitute in Everton’s last eight league games, even though they have had little to play for.

It seems as if Moyes simply does not think he is ready to regularly make an impact in the Premier League, and his previous comments earlier this year about his struggles show that an exit must be on the horizon.

Following Tyrique George’s arrival, Moyes spoke about what he expected of Dibling, saying: “I’d be thinking I better get my finger out and show the manager what I was really all about.

“The one thing Tyler has got on his side is that he is young, and he is a quiet boy who might take more time to settle in. Might, but he needs to show when he gets the opportunities.

“What we want from him is being direct, taking people on, committing people, Jack Grealish does it in a way where he drags the ball and brings people to him and finds a way of not releasing.

“It doesn’t need to be all one way, but he needs to get a way of becoming that player who we bought that we thought would be creative. Are you going to get us some assists, are you going to score some goals?”

Dibling has not been given the chance to impress over the last few months, but if Everton want to sign Scienza this summer, then the 20-year-old could come in handy for sealing the move.
