Everton will be sweating over Digne blow after Benitez confession - Kenny
Paddy Kenny has claimed Everton will be “sweating” over Lucas Digne’s fitness after going off injured against QPR.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Republic of Ireland international admitted the Toffees “can’t afford” to be without players like the 28-year-old for too long.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game, Rafael Benitez revealed Digne suffered a calf problem which saw him withdrawn.
However, the Spanish boss confessed he was hopeful the left-back would make a swift recovery.
Digne is the only recognised senior left-back at Goodison Park.
Fabian Delph has filled in on occasion, although he has only played seven minutes across all competitions this season.

As such, Kenny insisted Everton would be worried about Digne’s fitness, regardless of Benitez’s optimism.
Kenny told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge: “I’m sure they will be sweating.
“Hopefully for Lucas this is not a serious injury and Benitez will have him back in the team.
“You can’t afford to miss players like that. They’ve already got Pickford and Calvert-Lewin, off the top of my head, out at the moment.
“The more players who get injured is going to make it even harder for them. I’m sure they’ll be praying that his injury isn’t very serious and they can get him back involved as soon as possible.”
Digne scored Everton’s first goal in the 2-2 draw with QPR.
However, he watched from the sidelines as the Toffees lost on penalties.
He has played every single minute of the club’s five Premier League games so far this season.
He had the ignominy of scoring an own goal in the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
