Everton are working on a deal to sign Botafogo winger Luiz Henrique, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Sean Dyche “would like to improve” his options out wide.

That is a box that Henrique can tick for him as Dyche ideally wants to sign a right winger, and the 23-year-old has been thriving in Brazil this season in that position.

Henrique has made 50 appearances in all competitions for Botafogo, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists.

However, the club are flying high at the top of the Brazilian Championship right now which could make a January transfer difficult for Everton to pull off.

Botafogo aren’t keen on losing the winger and have priced him at £25million in a bid to push away any potential interested clubs.

Everton could have cash to splash in January

Henrique’s price tag is seen as “very prohibitive” for any club looking to sign him, but Everton might be able to get around that issue.

The new Everton owner is willing to “put his hand in his pocket” to help bolster the squad to ensure that Dyche can pull them away from the relegation zone.

The Merseyside giants currently sit 16th in the table after the opening 11 fixtures, with a three-point gap over the relegation zone.

Dyche’s side will be back in action after the international break on Saturday (23 November) against Brentford.
