Aaron Wan-Bissaka: West Ham star could snub Everton move and 'join' Premier League rival

Published on

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could turn down the opportunity to join Everton this summer in favour of a move to another club in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old is attracting plenty of interest following West Ham’s relegation and could be available to move on for as little as £10million.

David Moyes is believed to be keen to land the right-back as the position has become a priority for his side ahead of the transfer window opening.

However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Wan-Bissaka has previously been keen to remain in London.

As a result, he could turn down the chance to link up with Moyes and instead pursue a move to a club in the capital, in a blow to Everton’s transfer plans.

Could Everton move to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka?

Brown told Football Insider on 1 June that Moyes is keen to sign Wan-Bissaka and has spoken to contacts at West Ham to assess the possibility of a deal.

While the right-back did not move to the London Stadium until Moyes had already left in 2024, he has been a long-term admirer and could now make a move.

Following the departure of Seamus Coleman, the addition of a new full-back has become a priority, but Wan-Bissaka could now turn down the chance.

"Everton have been looking for a new right-back as a priority," Brown told Football Insider.

"But a lot will come down to whether Wan-Bissaka wants the move, because the word at Man United was always that he was looking to go back to London.

"It happens more often than you’d think, it was similar with Wilfried Zaha when he joined from Palace, I’m not sure why it is.

"Wan-Bissaka was always looking to go back to London, that’s part of the reason he went to West Ham in the first place.

"So whether that has now changed and he’s willing to move up to Everton, that remains to be seen, I think he could look to stay in London again.

"There are a number of Premier League clubs who could do with a player like him, so if one of them suits his desires better, it could be tough for Everton."

Who else is interested in signing Wan-Bissaka?

Everton are not the only club interested in signing Wan-Bissaka this summer, with a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

It is also not guaranteed he will leave the London Stadium, although their need to raise funds through player sales has increased the likelihood of an exit.

Crystal Palace have long been keeping tabs on the right-back’s situation, and remain big fans after he came through the club’s academy.

It is uncertain whether they would make an offer despite concerns about Daniel Munoz's future and the emergence of Rio Cardines and Danny Imray, but he is admired.

Meanwhile, the likes of Fulham and Brentford have previously been linked with moves for his signature and could be placed on alert over his availability.
