David Moyes source reveals Folarin Balogun to Everton update as door opens to deal
Everton have an opportunity to sign USA star Folarin Balogun this summer as the striker wants to leave his club Monaco.
A source close to David Moyes has told Football Insider that the Scottish manager may make a move for the 24-year-old in the current window to solve the Toffees' longstanding need for a proven goalscorer.
Ligue 1 outfit Monaco want over £40million to sanction the forward's exit before the deadline.
The American striker has been impressive at the 2026 World Cup, scoring two goals and providing one assist so far.
Balogun is said to be expected to depart Monaco in the summer window, with interest from the Premier League as well as other leading European clubs.
The centre-forward made his way through the youth ranks at Arsenal before impressing on loan at Stade Reims and eventually moving permanently to Stade Louis II in 2023.
After an injury-plagued 2024-25 campaign, the USA international has come back strong and his situation will certainly be one to keep an eye on for English clubs in the coming weeks.
Monaco in line for massive profit with Folarin Balogun sale
Monaco spent £25.7million to sign Balogun from Arsenal, but his current contract expires in 2028.
There have been no talks at Stade Louis II about extending the striker's deal and he's said to favour a transfer.
It has been claimed that several teams have lined up to get a deal over the line for Balogun, but nothing is advanced at the moment.
Everton have clear path to Folarin Balogun transfer
Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared on 22 June that Monaco would be willing to sell Balogun to Everton for a sizeable offer.
The Toffees now know what it will take to win the race for the American striker's signature, but it remains to be seen whether The Friedkin Group are willing to splash the cash on him.
Moyes has clearly been left frustrated with the lack of consistency from Beto and Thierno Barry this season and could certainly do with someone like Balogun at his disposal.
It was only last summer that the Merseyside outfit spent big money on the former Villarreal youngster, but it looks like they want to bolster their attack with a quality number nine.
