Everton backed to strike controversial '£30m' Curtis Jones deal
Everton or Fulham should make a surprise move for Liverpool gem Curtis Jones ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that he is stunned by the lack of interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.
He notched three goals and three assists in all competitions in 2025-26, but starting just 18 Premier League games, many expect him to depart Anfield.
It is understood that Inter Milan are heavily interested in the Liverpool academy graduate, having already seen a £21million bid rejected.
Now, the Toffees are being tipped to make a move for the talented midfielder, with an entirely controversial layer to a potential switch across Merseyside.
Jones is clearly Liverpool through-and-through, proven by the red card he picked up during the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in February 2025.
Curtis Jones' history with Everton makes a deal tricky
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson, while admitting that a switch across the city would be difficult, it shouldn't be completely ruled out.
"The real question is whether any of those teams lower down are going to start picking off the excess at Liverpool, [Man] City, Arsenal, and the fringe players that those teams would want to sell," he said.
"I think it's notable, for example, that Curtis Jones is probably available for what, £30m-£35m, and the only bid at the moment seems to be from Inter Milan.
"At a lower level, it's a bit surprising that a Fulham or clubs of that tier of club [haven't tried to sign him].
"Everton, maybe it's more difficult because he's coming across the city, but there's not a lot of business going on from those clubs.
"We'll have to see over the next couple of weeks, now that everybody's back, whether the market moves in that area."
Which Premier League teams are interested in Jones?
Despite Jones' talent on the pitch, there is a distinct lack of interest in his services this summer, with only one Premier League club eyeing a deal.
Inter Milan are the only team to make a serious approach for his services, while Nottingham Forest have targeted him as a potential target.
Of course, with Elliot Anderson joining Manchester City, Oliver Glasner will be desperate to plug that hole, though Jones could be snubbed again.
Lucas Bergvall is gaining far more interest than the Englishman, but the idea of him joining the Toffees this summer will make a lot of Liverpool fans feel sick.
