Everton are set to lose an exciting prospect in Demi Akarakiri in the ongoing transfer window.

The Toffees' academy star looks to have announced his exit after thanking the club in a social media post.

Many fans in L3 haven't taken the exit well, as the 18-year-old midfielder was highly rated and is expected to join Cagliari in Serie A.

Akarakiri posted "thank you Everton" on Instagram, with Harrison Armstrong responding with a heart emoji.

Other academy stars like Braiden Graham have also reacted to the post with emotional face emojis and hearts.

Cagliari delight emerges after Demi Akarakiri signing from Everton

Cagliari's sporting director, Pietro Accardi, is extremely satisfied with the signing of Akarakiri on a free transfer.

The young midfielder is now expected to sign a five-year contract after already undergoing his medical.

According to Corriere dello Sport on 19 June, the Italian club swooped in and took advantage of the situation as the Blues failed to secure his future on a professional deal.

Cagliari finished 14th in Serie A during the 2025-26 campaign, and it remains to be seen whether Akarakiri will get regular first-team opportunities in Sardinia soon.

Harrison Armstrong in familiar position at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Former chief executive Keith Wayness told Football Insider in January that Everton expect Armstrong to be their next big star after he was recalled from his Preston North End loan spell in the winter transfer window.

David Moyes gave the 19-year-old English midfielder regular game time for a few months, but he rarely featured for the Toffees after February.

Armstrong now finds himself in a similar position to last summer and a loan move would certainly be the best option for the youngster to get consistent minutes and further develop away from Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Scottish manager should demand greater squad depth from The Friedkin Group ahead of next season, so he isn't forced to cut short loan spells as he did at the start of 2026.
