Everton must accelerate Daniel Munoz signing plan, 3.97 and 1.8 stats show why

Everton are reportedly keen on signing Daniel Munoz this summer despite also targeting Aaron Wan-Bissaka to solve their right-back issues.

David Moyes' side are crying out for a new right-back signing as fans grow restless at their lack of business so far.

Jake O'Brien was trusted to feature there throughout last season despite being a natural centre-back, with Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson deputising.

Coleman's exit and Patterson's likely departure both mean that a new arrival in the position is the absolute priority for the Toffees as it stands.

Wan-Bissaka remains a top target, but a new report from journalist Alan Nixon claims that Everton admire Munoz and could make an approach for his services if Crystal Palace are open to a sale.

The Toffees have asked to be kept informed about Munoz's situation, with the two clubs already completing another deal right now as Brennan Johnson and Dwight McNeil move in opposite directions between Merseyside and south London.

Munoz has been a key man for Palace for several seasons since joining from Genk in 2024, helping them win the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.

He registered four goals and three assists in 29 Premier League games last term, to Wan-Bissaka's two assists and no goals in 25 top-flight appearances.

Munoz also created 27 chances (1.01 per 90 minutes) and had 3.97 expected assists, which was much better than the West Ham man's 18 chances created (0.7 per 90) and 1 expected assist.

Wan-Bissaka was a better dribbler than the Colombian international, but he completed more accurate passes per 90.

Munoz also completed 1.8 successful tackles per 90 to Wan-Bissaka's 0.99, made more blocks and headed clearances, while also winning possession in the final third more per 90.

Everton fans have seen Munoz's quality up close

Sources have told Football Insider that Celtic's Alistair Johnston wants to join Everton, but their interest has cooled with the two clubs apart on his valuation as it stands.

Munoz could well emerge as their top domestic target alongside Wan-Bissaka, with Toffees fans knowing all too well how impressive he can be in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old scored his first league goal of the campaign against Everton in October last year as he raced down the right flank and dispatched past Jordan Pickford at his near post.

Munoz also made the joint-most defensive contributions (16) on the pitch that day, won eight ground duels and five of his seven aerial duels.
