Everton plan to accept new Dwight McNeil offer - 'He told David Moyes he wants to leave'
Everton are prepared to accept permanent offers for Dwight McNeil this summer as he seeks a move away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The 26-year-old came close to leaving the club in the January transfer window, before the proposed move to Crystal Palace fell through late on deadline day.
He is still believed to be keen on the move away, however, and made clear his desire to move on when the offer arrived late in the window.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Everton are now prepared to cash in on McNeil, who told David Moyes of his plans to move on.
The winger started just 14 Premier League games last time out, most of which came after the mid-season window closed, but is not part of the club's long-term plans.
Instead, Moyes hopes to bolster his squad in the wide areas, and could agree to let McNeil move on in an attempt to raise funds and clear space in the squad.
Could Everton accept offers for Dwight McNeil?
Brown first told Football Insider in February that Everton are ready to let McNeil move on in the summer window after his deadline day move to Crystal Palace fell through.
The winger is said to have had his heart set on a move away from Merseyside, and while he has reitterated his thanks to the club, he remains keen to leave.
Everton are now prepared to grant his wish, with a number of clubs said to be keeping a close eye on his situation at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
"McNeil came very close to leaving Everton in January before that move fell through," Brown told Football Insider.
"Crystal Palace had everything agreed, they had an offer accepepted, and he told David Moyes he wants to leave, but then they pulled the plug at the last minute.
"That happens sometimes, it's frustrating but it's nothing new, and eventually he remained at Everton as part of the squad.
"But it became clear he wanted to move on, and I'm led to believe the sitaution hasn't changed, so Everton will be prepared to let him go this summer.
"If they can get a decent fee for him, it would make a lot of sense, because they want to improve out wide and they could let him go to clear space.
"That would then allow them to bring in a replacement, and it would allow McNeil to explore a move away as he planned to in January, so it works out for all parties."
Which clubs are interested in signing McNeil?
McNeil has attracted interest from a number of suitors over the last 12 months, and news of his potential availability is likely to attract interest from more clubs.
The winger has a wealth of experience in the Premier League and remains highly thought of, but is now being tipped for a drop down into the Championship.
West Ham are believed to be keeping a close eye on McNeil's situation following their relegation, with Nuno Espirito Santo keen to improve in the wide areas.
This comes amid speculation over the long-term future of Crysencio Summerville, who has been linked with big-money moves to Premier League clubs this summer.
McNeil has emerged on West Ham's radar and would provide a solid and dependable option as they aim to achieve promotion at the first time of asking.
