Everton poised to make Liam Delap move as David Moyes awaits green light
Everton are ready to make a move for Liam Delap if Chelsea reveal that they are willing to let him leave this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Delap was linked to the Toffees last summer after impressing at Ipswich Town despite their relegation from the Premier League.
Chelsea won the race for his services in a deal worth £30million, but he struggled in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
New Blues boss Xabi Alonso is set to review the striker's status in his squad in pre-season, and could let him leave if he prefers their other options.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Everton are ready to pounce on his potential availability as David Moyes plans to bolster his ranks in the final third.
Moyes is a keen admirer of Delap's profile and remains unsure about going into another season with Beto and Thierno Barry in attack.
Liam Delap remains on Everton's radar as Chelsea weigh up transfer call
The 23-year-old netted just three times in 47 appearances across his first season at Chelsea, with his last goal coming in early January.
Sources have told Football Insider that Delap is keen to impress Alonso to stay at Chelsea, but he could well be allowed to leave soon.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "We know that Everton are looking to strengthen their attacking options for next season...Delap is a player that David Moyes is a big admirer of.
"I'm sure if there's any indication that he is available at Stamford Bridge, Everton are ready and will be one of the clubs right at the front of the queue to try and sign him."
Which other strikers are Everton targeting?
Beto and Barry both failed to hit double figures for league goals last season as Everton missed out on European qualification.
Either striker could be sold in the coming months, and Delap is not the only centre-forward on their radar as it stands.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Everton are targeting Monaco and USA star Folarin Balogun as he impresses at the World Cup after scoring 13 league goals last season.
Recent reports have also stated that they have made an offer to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Christian Kofane, while Ayase Ueda is also believed to be a target.
