Everton told to pull plug on re-signing Richarlison after what scout has 'heard' from 'people at Tottenham'

Everton should steer well clear away from a move to reunite with Tottenham striker Richarlison this summer.

That is according to former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The Toffees are reportedly weighing up moves for a new striker this summer amid the struggles of both Beto and Thierno Barry.

Richarlison, 29, scored 11 Premier League goals for Tottenham last season but is expected to leave, with his contract set to expire next year.

The Lilywhites are reportedly looking for around £26million for the forward, who left Everton in 2022 in a deal worth £60m.

The Brazilian scored 53 goals for the Toffees in four years at Goodison Park and has maintained a positive relationship with the fans since his exit.

Everton told to halt pursuit of Tottenham star

On paper, Richarlison appears to be a signing that makes a lot of sense for Everton.

The striker would presumably take the chance to return to Merseyside, and he remains a reliable goal-scorer.

Wages may be an issue, but the 29-year-old would be a far cheaper arrival that many of the other names linked with Everton this summer so far.

However, not everyone is convinced that Richarlison's return would be a good thing. "He was bad news at Everton and he was bad news at Tottenham," King told Football Insider.

"If they take him back, good luck to them. Because for me, he's not the fella I'd want at my football club. And I've heard that from different people within Tottenham and Everton.

"He's not a good club man. Or in the dressing room, Richarlison." "If Everton do that, I'd be very disappointed. If Everton bring him back, they're desperate," he added.

What Richarlison said after leaving Everton

Richarlison has continued to interact with Everton fans since his 2022 move to Tottenham.

Remarkably, the forward has scored four goals in six games against their arch-rivals, Liverpool, since leaving, making sure to celebrate each one wildly.

After he scored a late equaliser at Anfield in March, Richarlison reposted a graffiti picture of himself in the Everton shirt holding a blue flare.

And when Tottenham met the Toffees this season, the Brazilian could be seen talking to and taking pictures with Everton fans after the game.

It's very difficult to say goodbye to a place that has become my home; fans who welcomed as if I were one of them; and a club that treated me kindly and helped me develop my sense of community and empathy. Neither all the love I have is enough to thank you," he said when leaving in 2022.

Undoubtedly, the fans would accept Richarlison back in a heartbeat, but that decision lies with David Moyes and Everton.
