Everton work on 'renegotiating' Tyrique George deal with after agreement reached
Everton are keen to sign Tyrique George on a permanent deal this summer if they can renegotiate his £22million option-to-buy with Chelsea, sources have told Football Insider.
George struggled for form throughout his loan spell at Everton after moving from Chelsea in the January window.
The England under-21 winger was only handed one start in the Premier League as he failed to register a goal contribution in any of his 11 Toffees appearances.
Despite his lack of impact, David Moyes has been weighing up the possibility of permanently signing the 20-year-old because he values his potential.
It seems unlikely that the Everton board will trigger his £22m buy option, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, they are planning discussions with Chelsea to lower that fee so they can come to an agreement.
Everton’s transfer plans were plunged into uncertainty earlier this week after an independent panel ordered them to pay Burnley around £35m in compensation for lost earnings.
They will still have money to spend this summer, though, and see George as a viable long-term option in Moyes’ squad.

George’s option-to-buy clause expires on 30 June, and Everton will need to accelerate talks as other clubs eye his services.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Obviously he's still a Chelsea player, Tyrique George, has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
“Everton do have an option to try and make that deal permanent but nothing has been decided on that as yet. It was a frustrating loan spell for Tyrique George after he joined in the January window.
“Let’s see if George wants to make that move permanent, as again, Everton would ideally like to negotiate down that option of £22m to buy the player on a permanent basis.”

If the Toffees can not get a deal over the line for George, then they may look to pounce and sign another Chelsea youngster this summer.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Everton are eyeing a move for Gordon as he enters the final year of his contract at Chelsea.
The 18-year-old winger registered 10 goals and six assists in 27 U18 Premier League games last season.
Newcastle and Bournemouth are also keeping tabs on his progress, with a move away potentially on the horizon as the Blues stall over handing him fresh terms.
