'Evertonians from Farhad Moshiri era could return' at Everton - Stefan Borson

The Friedkin Group (TFG) could seek financial help from former Everton investors as concerns mount up around the current owners.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that those with experience at Goodison Park could come back onboard on Merseyside.

The Toffees' owners of just 21 months are already seeking new investment at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, just days after the summer transfer window slammed shut.

TFG have sparked fears of a full sale already this early in their tenure, with supporters now preparing for the 'Not a Pound in the Ground' protest.

Fans are already frustrated after a lacklustre transfer window, with David Moyes only being able to add a handful of players to his squad for the 2026-27 campaign.

And while some are open to the idea of TFG selling to new owners, it has been suggested that they could turn to previous investors instead.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has predicted that those who supported Farhad Moshiri could return to help TFG in the coming months.

"It's not a situation where you have like a list of the obvious buyers. People are around and about," he said.

"There are the people that will have looked at it previously. I think part of the issue that Everton have got is, obviously, it was available for a very long time.

"So a lot of people will have looked at it. The credible ones amongst them would have also seen the same opportunity that the Friedkins saw but didn't get there.

"There are a couple of Evertonians who were involved in the [Farhad] Moshiri days as funders who may take a look at it again."

What does David Moyes need in January?

Given that TFG spoke about European ambitions, supporters feel extremely let down by the owner's actions during the summer window.

While Ainsley Maitland-Niles has solved the Toffees' right-back crisis for the time being, an injury could instantly set Moyes back to square one.

The squad's forward line is also underwhelming, despite re-signing Jack Grealish on loan, with Thierno Barry as the sole striker right now.

In addition to full-back and striker, the midfield also seems light on depth and quality, all of which need addressing in the January window.
