Carlos Alcaraz has been handed yet another setback after the Everton midfielder missed the clash with Man United.

The Toffees lost 1-0 to a late Benjamin Sesko winner on Monday, 23 February, but the Argentine was nowhere to be seen, having been benched for the last four games.

Despite welcoming back Jarrad Branthwaite from the sidelines recently, the biggest blow of them all has been Jack Grealish, who has a broken foot until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Even with the setbacks, Everton remain ninth in the Premier League table, just eight points off the top-five spots, taking on Newcastle next, who are one point behind the Merseyside club.

While Moyes has not used Alcaraz very often, any decision on the 23-year-old has now been made for him.

Carlos Alcaraz to miss 'three to four weeks' at Everton

Moyes has already been rocked by the injury to Grealish, so the Toffees would love to make it until the end of the season without anymore concerns off the pitch.

However, Alcaraz has already delivered the next blow at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Moyes now confirming the seriousness of his setback.

In his press conference on Friday, 27 February, Moyes said, "Charly Alcaraz has got an injury which is probably going to keep him out for three or four weeks, we think.

"He picked it up in the last minute of training on Sunday, so he was a bit unfortunate because he would have probably started on Monday night."

Alcaraz's last start came against Burnley at the end of December, playing 69 minutes before being replaced by Merlin Rohl in the 0-0 draw.

Which games will Alcaraz miss for Everton?

With the international break coming up next month, Alcaraz is set to miss a total of four games if his injury timeline is correct, with another two weeks to recover before Premier League football returns.

February

March

  • 3 March: Premier League, Burnley (H)
  • 15 March: Premier League, Arsenal (A)
  • 21 March: PremierLeague, Chelsea (H)

Once Premier League football returns, the Toffees will be up against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, which will be a tricky game under the circumstances.
