Jack Grealish to Everton: Deal 'could be done' for 'very minimal fee'

Everton will hope to eventually pay Manchester City between £15-20million for Jack Grealish this summer.

That is the opinion of former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The Toffees have always been expected to make a deal for the 30-year-old permanent this summer, but substantial progress in any deal has not been apparent.

Grealish has one year remaining on his deal at Man City and Everton will hope that the asking price eventually drops as they look to avoid losing him for free.

The Toffees are keen to save as much as they can on the fee considering the winger's wages, but they are taking a risk by leaving it so late.

Other clubs have reportedly been eyeing Grealish, while it cannot be ruled out that Enzo Maresca decides against selling him at all.

David Moyes may well have a different idea for Grealish if he does indeed arrive on Merseyside again this summer.

The 30-year-old exclusively played as a left-winger in the six months he was fit for his loan last season, but Everton are well stocked in wide areas.

Tyrique George and Brennan Johnson have both arrived this summer, and Iliman Ndiaye looks set to stay put despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

The question is whether Moyes would be willing to play Grealish as an attacking midfielder instead, a position he played regularly during his time at Aston Villa.

They will have to sign him first, however. "I think the fee's going to be very minimal. I think if it's anywhere between £15-20m, then I would imagine the deal could be done," King told Football Insider.

"You're sort of looking at a player who, when he's playing and on form, he's got to be worth something between £30-40m.

"You're never going to get the £100m back, although that doesn't seem to matter to a club like Man City. You pay your money."

King added: "If they'd paid £50m, I don't think they could meet his wages. But I think if they could pay £15-£20m I think things could be sorted out."

Grealish's loan spell was ended by a significant foot injury, which has taken almost seven months to recover from.

The winger took to Instagram on Thursday to share the news that he has finally returned to full training.

"The best feeling ever to be back in full training today for the first time in 6 and half months! Been so hard mentally but was all worth it today," he wrote.

It remains to be seen whether Grealish will return to Everton, but talks may well progress in the coming days following sight of his return.
