'Bulked-up' Everton player is transforming his career after winning over David Moyes
David Moyes now truly believes that Everton winger Tyler Dibling has turned a corner in terms of his fortunes with the club.
That is according to former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who feels that the wideman has become "physically stronger" and "more robust" during the summer.
This comes after Moyes praised the 20-year-old for his recent work and also handed him his first Premier League minutes of the campaign right before the international break.
Wyness made it clear that players tend to genuinely respect praise from the 63-year-old when it comes their way, as they know that it is often difficult to earn.
Moyes recently suggested that he is now smiling when he hears Dibling's name mentioned, despite him failing to notch a single goal contribution last season.
The £40million man struggled to adapt to life on Merseyside last term, but he is already showing signs of improvement in recent weeks.
Everton banking on Tyler Dibling improvement
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that it is hugely "important" for his former club that Dibling eventually comes good in their colours.
The England U21 international is the Toffees' second most expensive signing of all time, and as a result, it is vital that he provides value for money long-term.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained how Moyes' praise of Dibling's recent work is sure to be genuine.
"With Moyesy, I know him well enough that every word is measured, and he will mean that. He's very good at this sort of thing of bringing on the young players, and they get to understand that when he says something like this, he really means it and so it lands," he said.
"Some managers spray compliments all too readily. With David, you've got to earn it, and Dibling will have felt that, I'm sure. But more than that, I think it was the case that he's been training very well, and David mentioned that as well.
"That was what he meant by getting into the Everton culture and really working hard. I think he's earned his cap, so to speak, in terms of the way he performed lately. Now, of course, Dibling's already on the books at a pretty expensive transfer fee.
"The amortisation's already beginning. So it's important that he comes good. But he looks to me physically stronger after the off-season. He seems to have bulked out a bit.
"He looks more robust, and certainly has shown some very good signs. Yes, it's well-earned praise, but it does not come easily from David, and so the players respect that."
Could Dibling be a secret weapon for Everton?
Former Everton scout Bryan King told Football Insider last weekend that the club still have extremely high hopes for Dibling in the coming years.
The starlet played just 350 minutes of Premier League football last season, in a year that largely saw his progress stagnate after his move from Southampton.
However, his recent assist in the Carabao Cup win over Wolves seems to have boosted his confidence and helped him to turn a corner.
Suggestions of an early sale of the forward are now dwindling fast, and Moyes is sure to hand him further involvement after the international break.
Dibling even has the potential to become something of a secret weapon for the Toffees, given how little other teams would have expected from him at the start of the season.
