Everton striker Thierno Barry took his goal tally for the season to six with his strike in his team's 2-2 draw with Hull City on Sunday.

The Frenchman produced a neat finish when through on goal in the 68th minute, as he put his team 2-1 up away in East Yorkshire.

The 23-year-old is already just two goals away from matching his tally across the entirety of last season, and he is finally showing genuine signs of adapting to the Premier League.

Everton paid £27million to sign Barry from Villarreal back in 2025, and he is finally beginning to repay that transfer fee.

The youngster has been left in at the deep end after the Toffees' disastrous end to the summer transfer window, as David Moyes has no other senior strikers at his disposal.

Barry is Everton's one and only man to lead the line right now, but Sunday's evidence shows that he still needs plenty of patience as he continues to develop.

Thierno Barry's finishing under scrutiny

Barry has made a promising start to the new campaign for Everton, but there were signs of his old issues coming up again on Sunday.

The Merseysiders' draw at Hull was a tight affair, but Moyes' men will surely rue the fact that they were unable to take all three points, given that they missed six big chances across the 90 minutes.

Four of those fell to Barry, who could easily have netted a hat-trick had he displayed a little more composure in front of goal.

The starlet may have found the mark with his goal, but for the rest of the game, he showed some largely horrific finishing.

However, Everton simply cannot afford to put pressure on Barry or lose patience with him moving forward.

The signs of the potential that Everton saw in him when they signed him are finally starting to break through, but they must ensure that his confidence remains high moving forward.

Thierno Barry 'playing with new kind of confidence' after Everton change - Insider

Everton 'service' has unlocked Barry

Former Everton scout Bryan King told Football Insider at the end of September that Barry is playing with a "new kind of confidence" this season.

He is no longer battling for starts against Beto, and is beginning to show that he could explode and become a top Premier League striker in time.

King also believes that Moyes' side are now providing far better "service" for the frontman than they did last season.

Barry's confidence in an Everton shirt is blossoming, and they cannot risk damaging that by putting him under more pressure to find the net.
