Everton star Jack Grealish has sent a message of support to former teammate Kyle Walker on social media after the right-back announced his retirement from international football.

Walker, 35, took to social media on Tuesday afternoon to reveal that he has called time on his international career with England.

The right-back played 96 times for the Three Lions following his debut against Spain in November 2011, and represented his country at five different international tournaments.

He was handed his final England appearance by Thomas Tuchel against Senegal last summer, and looked unlikely to go to the upcoming World Cup after failing to make either of the last three squads.

Grealish has been the star of several Everton games this season, but also seems set to miss out on this summer's tournament, and has reached out to Walker to congratulate him on a stellar England career.

Grealish shared a dressing room with Walker at Man City before their respective exits over the last 12 months, and the pair also played 20 times together for England between 2020 and 2024.

Walker took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce his decision with an emotional video, and a caption admitting that playing for England was "the biggest honour" of his career.

Grealish commented under his post to call him: "The best" alongside blue heart emojis, while the Everton loan man also took to his Instagram story to share the video with the caption: "Legend".

Jude Bellingham also left numerous red heart emojis in Walker's replies, while Declan Rice said: "Great memories walks," and Morgan Rogers commented to say: "What a legend".

Everton to make quick move to sign Grealish this summer

Grealish registered two goals and six assists in his first 22 appearances for the Toffees, while also winning August's Premier League Player of the Month award.

He suffered a stress fracture in his foot in January and is now expected to miss the rest of the season, but Everton still remain keen to tie him down permanently this summer.

Sources have told Football Insider that Everton plan to move quickly to sign Grealish after his loan deal ends, with several other top flight sides interested in his services as it stands.
