David Moyes in 'no doubt' that he wants Scotland job - 'I worked with him for a long time at Everton'

Everton manager David Moyes is very interested in the prospect of managing Scotland after Steve Clarke's post-World Cup departure.

That is according to former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that there is "no doubt" that the 63-year-old would be open to taking charge of his country.

Moyes is currently one of the early favourites to take charge of Scotland, after Clarke stepped down from his post following their group stage exit at the World Cup.

Wyness is adamant that Moyes sees the Scotland job as part of his future, but has questioned whether now is the right time for him to make that move.

The Everton boss has one year remaining on his contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and has designs on leading the club back into Europe next term.

The Scotland vacancy has now cast Moyes' future into major doubt, but Wyness believes that there is a relatively simple solution.

Keith Wyness: David Moyes won't be Steve Clarke's replacement

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that taking charge of Scotland would be "good" for Moyes in the latter stages of his career.

The former boardroom man spent many years working with the boss during their time together at Goodison Park, but feels that he won't be the man to step into Clarke's shoes.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness made it clear that while the interest is clear, Moyes is highly unlikely to move into international management right now.

"I know David, obviously I worked with David for a long time, and I tried to get him to come to Aston Villa when I was there as well, but he didn't come at the time," he said.

"David no doubt would want to be the Scotland manager at some stage of his career, and I think that would be good for him at some stage, but I don't think it's right now.

"So I think in principle yes he'd be interested in the Scotland job, but I don't think it works now. I think it would be sometime in the future.

"There's no doubt I can see David being a Scotland manager but he's not going to be the Steve Clarke replacement in my opinion."

'I spoke to my Middlesbrough contacts' - Keith Wyness reveals what he's heard about Hayden Hackney to Everton

Everton on the verge of signing that Moyes will love

Wyness told Football Insider on Tuesday that Everton's move for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney is "as good as done," and could be announced before the end of the week

The Toffees are set to emerge victorious after a lengthy transfer race, and Wyness believes that the 24-year-old will be a perfect fit for what Moyes is building on Merseyside.

The Scottish businessman spoke to his contacts at the Riverside Stadium, and suggested that Hackney exactly the sort of character that will "respond to Moyes" and his methods.

Everton are on the verge of sealing the signing of the former England U21 international, and it is sure to be a deal that the boss is delighted with.
