David Moyes has yet to find a solution to Everton's long-term search for a new right-back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Multiple targets have emerged for the Toffees this summer, but there are just two days remaining until their season kicks off against Crystal Palace.

One player they could face this weekend, Daniel Munoz, has been shortlisted alongside Matty Cash of Aston Villa and Barcelona's Hector Fort.

This is far from the first transfer window that the Toffees have desperately needed right-back cover. Still, Everton have done little to fix the problem.

Moyes has only added Hayden Hackney, Christian Norgaard and Brennan Johnson to the squad, leading to some early fan fury on Merseyside.

With very little activity in the transfer market so far, the Toffees could look to the long list of free agents to sign a new right-back this summer.

Everton right-back situation desperately needs addressing

One of the most successful full-backs in Everton's history cost them just £300,000 - Seamus Coleman. A player who gave them 17 years of service.

So, why not try a free transfer? It's relatively low-risk, will only cost as much as their wages, and there would be no clubs to deal with at the other end.

Following Leicester City's relegation to League One, Ricardo Pereira, 32, left as a free agent, bringing an end to his eight years with the Foxes.

As well as putting in countless tackles, he notched 15 goals and 18 assists over the years, proving his pedigree in the final third as well as defence.

Kevin Mbabu, formerly of Fulham, is currently without a club as well. The 31-year-old played 42 times for Midtjylland last term, with plenty of European experience under his belt.

Rangers legend James Tavernier could be targeted, but Kingsley Ehizibue, most recently of Udinese, should be the third and final option.

He made 34 appearances as Udinese were relegated from Serie A, and despite a poor campaign for the club, Ehizibue was in fine form down the right flank.

Everton's right-back search takes new twist after source's reveal

What has Angus Kinnear said about the situation?

It is up for debate whether Angus Kinnear's recent interview has done more good or bad for the frustrated supporters on Merseyside.

Speaking about the club's right-back situation, he said: "I don’t think we are in a bad position on that. The players we thought we had the option of are still available for us.

"I don’t think they will be there for Crystal Palace, which was the objective”

That would suggest that Jake O'Brien will retake his position at right-back, even if James Garner can, and Hackney has been tipped to.
