Newcastle United are now ready to accept the right offer for Everton target Jacob Murphy this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The veteran winger is out of contract at St James' Park in June 2027 and is facing an uncertain future this summer as a result.

The 31-year-old starred for the Magpies with 20 Premier League goal involvements back in 2024-25, but managed just one quarter of that total last term.

Sources say that Murphy's contract situation has alerted Everton, who are keen to bolster their squad with more attacking options.

David Moyes is keen to ensure that his team is well-stocked with proven Premier League players, and Murphy fits that bill.

A move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been regularly touted for the wideman in recent weeks, and the Toffees have just been handed a huge boost in their pursuit.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider earlier in July that Moyes is still "evaluating" a move for Murphy.

The Scottish businessman suggested that his countryman will be using his contacts to gain references on the player's character, before potentially committing to a move.

Newcastle's stance regarding a potential sale had initially been unclear, but they are now coming round to the idea of a sale.

The Tynesiders are now ready to consider any bids that come their way for Murphy before the 3 September deadline.

That serves as a major boost for Everton, who now know that their pursuit has every chance of being successful if they can put the right offer on the table.

Ex-David Moyes ally speaks out on Murphy fee

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Moyes is a "big fan" of Murphy, who "ticks a lot of boxes" for what he wants at Everton right now.

The ex-recruitment man made it clear that Murphy's direct running and strong crossing ability hugely appeal to the Toffees' boss.

Brown also suggested that the Merseysiders will be able to get a deal done at a "bargain fee," which little indication that Newcastle are considering handing the veteran a new contract.

A move for Murphy may not be the most glamourous pursuit, but it could prove to be a hugely shrewd move for Everton.
