Everton fans say the same thing about signing Celtic star Alistair Johnston
Everton fans are far from impressed after it was revealed that the club was eyeing a deal for Celtic’s Alistair Johnston this summer transfer window to finally end their right-back woes.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that the Toffees are eyeing the Hoops right-back, who is open to a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The 27-year-old spent most of the 2025-26 campaign out injured, but managed to make a comeback towards the end of the season as Celtic won a domestic double.
On top of this, Johnston earned a call-up to the Canada squad for the 2026 World Cup and played a major role in their run to the round of 16.
However, Everton fans were far from impressed with this news, believing that the full-back is not good enough to make an impact.
The Toffees have had a quiet transfer window to date, with Hayden Hackney being the only new face through the door.

It is increasingly clear that Everton are in need of a right-back this summer.
Natural centre-back Jake O'Brien played much of last season in this position, due to the club’s lack of options.
On top of this, Seamus Coleman departed the Toffees at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, further emphasising the need for reinforcements in this position.
Therefore, with the right-back position being a problem for months at Everton, fans were far from impressed when The Bobble reported that Johnston was a target with weeks left of the summer window.
As a result, many supporters took to X, expressing their anger at the news.
What other business could Everton complete this summer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Aston Villa are eyeing a deal for Everton midfielder James Garner this summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old was a highly important player for the Toffees last season and played in all 38 Premier League matches.
His form won him an England call-up, and he picked up his first cap against Uruguay earlier this year.
Despite Villa’s interest, Everton are in a good position to keep hold of Garner after the midfielder signed a new long-term contract in January.
However, it remains to be seen who the Toffees will sell and bring into the club going into the final weeks of the transfer window.
