Everton Insider shares Beto exit latest as Nottingham Forest swoop: 'I've heard...'
Everton are prepared to sell striker Beto to Nottingham Forest if they can get a replacement through the door this summer.
That is according to former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Guinea-Bissau international would be a good fit at the City Ground.
This comes after recent reports that the Reds are plotting a deal to sign the 28-year-old, who is out of contract on Merseyside in June 2027.
Wyness believes that Beto's future will depend on some of the other deals that are in the pipeline for Everton, which he believes are currently being worked on behind the scenes.
The former Udinese man ended the 2025-26 campaign with nine goals in the Premier League, as he shared the workload at the top of the pitch with Thierno Barry.
He was a key player for David Moyes once again, and the boss is not prepared to let him leave without having a top-quality replacement lined up.
Keith Wyness expects Chris Wood repeat for Beto
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Beto could make a similar impact to Chris Wood if he did move to Forest.
The New Zealand international struck 20 league goals for the Reds back in 2024-25, and Wyness sees similarities to him in Beto's style of play.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness stressed that a deal to take Beto to the City Ground is a firm possibility.
"I think he'd do well at Forest actually. His style of play is a bit similar to Chris Wood, who did very well at Forest as well," he said.
"It's going to be all dependent on Everton bringing somebody else in. I don't think they'll let him go until they've got somebody else through the door.
"I've been hearing rumours there are a few little deals that are percolating away; it may be dependent on other bigger ones happening first."
Everton 'likely' to lose two first-XI players
Former Everton scout Bryan King told Football Insider on Saturday that Everton are "likely" to lose both Beto and Iliman Ndiaye in the coming weeks.
The former's contract situation is set to cause issues for the club, while the latter is closing in on a move to join Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
King made it clear that his former club would need to bring in genuine, proven quality in order to replace the pair of stars, or they would likely face a season of "struggle."
Moyes will have his eyes on a push for European football this season, but the team could quickly progress in the opposite direction if the remainder of their window doesn't go to plan.
