Everton must consider Omar Marmoush swap deal as trigger revealed for Iliman Ndiaye to join Man City
Everton should be prepared to consider the idea of a swap deal with Manchester City involving Iliman Ndiaye and Omar Marmoush.
The Citizens have identified the Toffees' Senegalese star as a target for the upcoming transfer window, and are prepared to do everything they can in order to secure his services.
The winger dazzled for the Merseysiders with six goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, but David Moyes and Co. are now at serious risk of losing him.
However, with Man City lurking to try to prise him away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton should have their eyes on Marmoush, who is trying to find a way out of City.
The Egyptian was heavily linked with moves to both Tottenham and Aston Villa back in January, and now looks set to provide the trigger for Ndiaye to potentially move to the Etihad Stadium.
Marmoush has impressed when needed at City since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt, but will surely need a move to a place where he would be guaranteed regular minutes.
Everton should move for Omar Marmoush if Iliman Ndiaye wants Man City switch
City's interest in Ndiaye was revealed by Alan Nixon via his Patreon account on Sunday morning, and he made it clear that the 26-year-old "could fancy" the chance to compete for trophies at the Etihad.
He suggested that the Toffees are prepared to sell if the money is right, but also noted that they would hold out for a "chunky fee" for their star man.
It is also understood that City's move for Ndiaye could hinge on them selling Marmoush, and that is a situation that Everton should be looking to take advantage of.
If Ndiaye makes it clear in the coming weeks that he is keen to move on, then Everton should be looking to strike a swap deal for Marmoush, which would also benefit City.
That would mean that Moyes would land a ready-made replacement for the departing star, and likely without the club having to add much cash as part of the deal.
Marmoush netted three goals and three assists from just eight league starts this term, and has continually proven from his limited opportunities that he is a very capable player.
Everton's preferred option will surely be to keep Ndiaye within their grasp, but if their worst fears do play out and they look set to lose him, they could do far worse than trying to bring in Marmoush.
How much would Omar Marmoush cost Everton?
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that City would accept a £60million offer for Marmoush this summer, as that would see them recoup their initial outlay on him.
Ordinarily, that sum of money would be out of reach for the Toffees when it comes to one particular player, but with Ndiaye valued similarly, it could line up for both parties.
Recent reports have suggested that Everton value Ndiaye at around the £70m mark, and if they stick to that asking price amid City's interest, then a swap could line up nicely.
Everton will need a truly top-level replacement for Ndiaye if he does depart, and they should look no further than the man that he would replace at City.
