Everton's chances of signing Millwall star Femi Azeez have been strengthened by their failure to win promotion from the Championship after losing in the play-off semi-finals.

Azeez has been a standout for Millwall throughout this campaign and was a big part of the reason why they made the top six in the regular Championship season.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Everton ahead of the summer window, with some other Premier League clubs also reportedly keeping tabs on his services.

David Moyes should be accelerating a move for Azeez now that Millwall will officially not be playing Premier League football for another season.

Everton's transfer plans are set to revolve around bolstering their attacking options, especially if they qualify for European competition with a strong end to the season.

Millwall have no chance of keeping Femi Azeez after play-off loss, Everton must take advantage

Azeez registered 18 goal contributions in 35 second-tier games as Millwall entered the play-offs against Hull City.

He was unable to work his magic over the two legs, however, with the Tigers winning 2-0 at The Den on Monday night to book their place in the final at Wembley later this month.

Azeez was named in the official Championship Team of the Season last month and has consistently shown that he is ready to compete at a better level throughout the campaign.

Millwall will surely be resigned to losing him now that they are set to remain in the second tier for next term, especially given their recent record of selling top talents, such as Romain Esse and Zian Flemming.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Everton are expecting offers for Iliman Ndiaye this summer, while Tyrique George seems unlikely to stay after his loan from Chelsea.

They are clearly set to be in need of right-wing additions, with Azeez looking like a no-brainer capture for a potentially cut-price fee.

Tyler Dibling uncertainty should see Everton in for Azeez

Dibling himself has recently admitted that his debut season on Merseyside has been "tough" due to a lack of game time afforded to him by Moyes.

The former Southampton starlet has only managed one substitute appearance in the Toffees' last 12 matches, and looks set to leave the club this summer as a result of his struggles.

Azeez is four years older than Dibling and has made a much bigger impact at senior level in recent seasons.

The Millwall man would surely be a better right-wing option for Moyes to have at his disposal in 2026-27, so Dibling's potential departure should also open the door to make a move for his services.
