Everton fans have demanded that the club get at least £100million for James Garner this summer if he is sold to Aston Villa this summer.

The Midlands giants were heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old ahead of the last January window, and remain long-term admirers.

Now, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Villa aim to lure Garner to Villa Park this summer as they look to rebuild their midfield.

The England international was consistently reliable for David Moyes last season, and his versatility allowed him to be played in multiple positions.

With various midfielders going for extortionate fees this summer, Everton fans believe that they should get at least £100m for their rising star.

Garner made 41 appearances for the Merseysiders last season and scored three times while also collecting seven assists in all competitions.

While Everton have not done a lot in the transfer market this summer, there is hope that Moyes can build a team that is capable of qualifying for European football this season.

The Toffees came close in the 2025-26 campaign as they finished 13th, four points off eighth place.

However, if they were to sell Garner, it would no doubt damage these long-term hopes.

As a result, when the news broke that Villa were looking at the midfielder, many took to X demanding that the club receive a record fee if he is to depart.

How good was Garner last season?

According to Fotmob on 24 July, Garner was highly impressive last season.

Overall, he averaged 0.05 goals, a 0.05 xG, 1.19 shots, 0.18 assists, a 0.16 xA, 1.48 chances created, 61.3 per cent duels won, 3.16 tackles, 1.56 interceptions and 2.24 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

Therefore, it is evident that Garner is capable of affecting the pitch both in attack and in defence, something that is valuable to any team.

Given his ability and his homegrown status, he is a player that Everton would find it difficult to replace if they were to sell him this window.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Villa submit a suitable offer to the Toffees over the coming weeks as the transfer window heats up.
