Sources: Everton make Timothy Weah approach after deal agreed
Everton are making enquiries into the availability of Marseille winger Timothy Weah, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old is one of several wide options that the Toffees are considering this summer, with Marseille receptive to the idea of a sale.
The French side are about to seal a £15million move for the USA international after his loan spell at Juventus, but are willing to sell if the chance to flip a "big profit" arises this summer.
Sources have indicated that Marseille would need an offer in excess of £15m to do a deal, but Everton are currently keen on the idea of a cut-price fee.
Weah will not be forced out of the door on the French Riviera, and the onus is on Everton to make an attractive offer.
The former PSG man notched two goals and two assists from 29 games in Ligue 1 last term.
Timothy Weah's versatility catches Everton's eye
Weah is no stranger to links over a move to the Premier League, having been heavily linked with a move to Nottingham Forest last summer.
The East Midlands outfit even had a deal in place with Juventus, only for the player himself to reject the chance to move to the City Ground.
This time around it is Everton who are trying to bring Weah to England, as he can cover a number of positions on their shopping list this summer.
He spent the majority of last season operating as an attacking right-back at Marseille, but can also play as a wing-back or even a right winger.
That versatility appeals to David Moyes, who is keen to strengthen his squad across the board ahead of a push for European football in 2026-27.
Everton have already begun to make enquiries into Weah's availability, but they will have to make a deal worthwhile for Marseille.
How much will Everton need to pay for Jarrod Bowen?
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider last weekend that Everton will need to shell out in excess of £40m to sign Jarrod Bowen this summer.
The Toffees have been heavily linked with a move for the West Ham star along with Aston Villa, but Borson is sceptical about their chances of getting a deal done.
The football finance expert believes it is "unlikely" that the Merseysiders can afford to spend such a big sum on a single player this summer, given their need for reinforcements across the board.
Borson instead feels that Bowen is likely to stay put at the London Stadium, unless a truly big offer comes in from a top club.
