Sources: Kenny Tete set for Everton medical after bid accepted

Everton are close to completing a deal for Fulham’s Kenny Tete to end their long pursuit for a new right-back, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees are now in advanced talks to sign the 30-year-old, with a £9million deal being agreed between the two Premier League clubs.

The former Netherlands international is set to be booked in for a medical later on Monday as Everton look to finalise the deal before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

Over the course of the summer, the Toffees have held extensive talks with multiple targets and enquired about Tete’s teammate Timothy Castagne.

Football Insider has also exclusively revealed that Everton were in talks to sign Ola Aina from Nottingham Forest before the deal collapsed.

Nevertheless, the club’s right-back crisis is now set to come to an end, with Tete close to completing a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

How good is Kenny Tete?

If the Tete signing is completed, it will be a massive relief for many Everton fans.

The club has been in dire need of a right-back for over a season.

In the 2025-26 campaign, Jake O’Brien was David Moyes’ main choice to fill this position, while Merlin Rohl has started here so far this season.

However, these have been far from long-term solutions, and the signing of Tete should bring more balance to the club’s backline.

According to Fotmob, Tete averaged 6.57 duels won with a 60.1 per cent overall success rate, 1.35 aerial duels won with a 60.0 per cent overall success rate, 3.26 tackles, 1.35 interceptions, 4.11 recoveries, 3.41 clearances and 0.25 clean sheets per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season.

Therefore, if these stats can be replicated at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the 30-year-old could prove to be an astute signing by the Toffees.

Everton have been heavily linked with Jack Grealish throughout the summer transfer window.
