'Every Celtic fan over the moon' after 'shock' news from Rangers - pundit
Alan Hutton has insisted Celtic fans and players will be buzzing over the departure of Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender admitted the “shock” news could give the Bhoys a shot in the arm in the Premiership title race.
Aston Villa confirmed Gerrard’s appointment last week (11th November) to bring his spell at Ibrox to an end.
He has left Rangers sitting top of the league table, with Celtic four points behind.
However, Hutton suggested his old side could find themselves in “limbo” with a change in manager.
As such, he claimed the Celtic squad may feel they can capitalise.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Well, every Celtic fan I know is absolutely over the moon, if I’m quite honest. That’s the truth of it.
“That’s probably why Rangers fans are nervous now about everything that’s happened. Celtic are coming on again, they went through that tough period, in my opinion. They’re starting to play some good football.
“The big problem for them was Gerrard was doing so well. He was building a team, but now he has gone. His whole backroom staff are gone. Rangers are kind of in limbo, what way do they turn?
“All Celtic fans I know are quite happy. Of course, the Celtic players will have spoken about it. It was a big shock, let’s not kid ourselves. There will be wee conversations around the training ground.
“Players all talk, they all chat about what’s going on, whether it be transfer windows or managers or whatever.
“It probably spurred them on, given them a little extra energy to say: ‘We could actually go and challenge this year for the title.'”
Rangers and Celtic’s next league meeting will take place on January 2nd at Parkhead.
