Ex-Leeds United star has unexpected take on Luke Ayling after 'shocking lack of discipline'

Leeds United’s lack of discipline is “shocking” for a team battling relegation from the Premier League.

That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Jesse Marsch’s side failed to finish the game with 11 men on the pitch for the second successive game.

Dan James was sent off in the first half as Leeds were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea on Wednesday (11 May).

Luke Ayling also saw red in the first half of his side’s loss to Arsenal on Sunday (8 May).

Both players will not play again this season.

Kenny claims Ayling will be hurting more than anyone after his dismissal but admitted that does not excuse the lack of discipline at the club.

“It’s a shocking lack of discipline,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The one thing you need in a relegation scrap is a cool head and clearly there aren’t many of them at Leeds.

“It’s so disappointing. With Ayling, it’s a split-second decision and he’s got it wrong.

“You can’t judge him off one mistake and he has been an amazing servant to Leeds.

“He will be devastated by that but it was such a bad time to do it.”

Leeds remain in the relegation zone on goal difference after their 3-0 loss to Chelsea.

They face Brighton and Brentford in their remaining Premier League games.
