Celtic tipped to sign A-list star who will light up Parkhead after transfer latest - pundit
Alex McLeish has insisted Celtic need to sign proven talent who can “hit the ground running” in January.
The former Rangers manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Ange Postecoglou cannot spend time trying to get new signings up to speed.
Postecoglou, as quoted by the Daily Record last Friday (26 November), confirmed his plans to bolster the squad depth at Parkhead next month in a bid to “bridge the gap” to better sides.
Speaking to the same publication on Tuesday (1 December), the manager stated the club are supporting him fully in terms of improving the squad.
However, McLeish insisted it should not all be about the number of players available to Postecoglou.
He suggested the Bhoys should focus on recruiting “quality” talent who can make an immediate impact at Parkhead.

Reacting to Postecoglou’s comments, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s obviously down to quality. They need to bring in quality.
“You can’t bring in a player and then have the manager or the coaches working with him for the next couple of months to turn him into a player.
“You have to bring the quality in right here, right now and hit the ground running.”
Celtic bolstered all across the pitch over the summer.
They signed no fewer than eight first-team players either permanently or on loan.
The likes of Joe Hart and Kyogo Furuhashi have quickly established themselves as mainstays under Postecoglou.
However, Georgios Giakoumakis and James McCarthy have struggled for action.
Celtic currently sit four points behind Rangers in the Premiership title race.
They have also been knocked out of the Europa League after guaranteeing a third-place finish in their group.
