Ex-Rangers star: Barkas has been transformed in Celtic pre-season
Alan Hutton has claimed Vasilis Barkas has been transformed in pre-season but Ange Postecoglou could still offload him after his howler for Celtic against Midtjylland.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 27-year-old scapegoat may have lost the trust of his manager and teammates.
Barkas flapped at a tame free-kick from Evander to allow Midtjylland to score in last week’s 1-1 draw.
The second leg of the Champions League qualifier is on Wednesday (July 28th).
Hutton admitted he thought the Greece international had “turned the corner” in pre-season.
However, he questioned whether Barkas could continue at Celtic after another high-profile error.

“I’ve actually watched a bit of Celtic in pre-season and, to be fair to him, I thought he turned the corner,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“He made some good saves, he was impressive in some of the games, but it’s the big moments. For a goalkeeper, that’s where it counts.
In the big moment where you need your goalkeeper, I don’t know what he was thinking. Did he think it was going wide? I genuinely don’t know what he was doing.
“It’s one of those where you expect your keeper to be commanding and catch the ball. Really, in short, I think it’s an area where Postecoglou will be desperate to bring someone in.
“I don’t think he can continue in this form. Maybe the trust isn’t there going into big moments in games with Barkas.”
Barkas played 22 times across all competitions during his first season at Parkhead.
However, he only made three appearances in the Bhoys’ final 19 league games of the campaign.
