Ex-striker dumbfounded as Tottenham touted the 'most plausible' destination for Sarri
Noel Whelan has told Tottenham to avoid fiery Maurizio Sarri and instead source the next Mauricio Pochettino.
The former Leeds United striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Spurs need a less confrontational manager.
Gazzetta dello Sport reporter Carlo Laudisa recently told an Italian radio station that Tottenham is the ‘most plausible’ destination for Sarri.
Sarri, 62, managed Chelsea during the 2018/19 season and led the club to Europa League glory.
He also had issues and clashed with the players as Kepa Arrizabalaga famously refused to be substituted during the Carabao Cup final.

Whelan claims Sarri would be the wrong appointment for Tottenham as his personality would clash with the players.
“No, I don’t think that’s the right appointment,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“I really don’t. No. That’s not the way Tottenham need to go.
“He’s another personality who would clash with the players. You need to look at the man-management side of things now.
“He’s got the experience but you need more than that to go to Tottenham. You need someone who will put their arm around the players.
“Someone like [Mauricio] Pochettino. He was stern when he needed to be but he also had that personality, that’s what you need.”
Sarri was most recently sacked by Juventus after just one season despite winning Serie A.
Tottenham are next in action against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
