Ex-striker left baffled by 'weird' Kane-Tottenham update via Romano
Frank McAvennie has called Harry Kane’s situation at Tottenham a “shambles” after an update from Fabrizio Romano.
The former West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on Kane’s future.
On Tuesday (3rd August), Romano reported Kane would return to Spurs training later in the week.
The Guardian then reported the 28-year-old was still on holiday on Wednesday but plans to return to his club at the weekend.
Kane has been itching to leave Spurs all summer but a rejected £100million bid from Man City is the only offer the club have received.
McAvennie insists the current situation would always end in talks and is baffled as to why Kane reportedly backed down after just two days of striking.

“He [Kane] was always going to go back,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s a real shame all of this, I don’t know how the fans feel all about this.
“I find it a bit weird actually, if he’s going to strike, why not follow through with that?
“It was after two days he’s apparently said he’ll come back next week or whenever it is.
“Yeah, you showed them there, a two day strike, that helps everyone out.
“I’ve said ‘what a shambles’ a lot this summer but this is ridiculous.
“It was always going to end with talks so why not just do that at the start?”
Kane was initially given an extended holiday after helping England reach the final of Euro 2020.
Tottenham’s season gets underway with a Premier League clash against Man City on 15th August.
