Man United backed to complete Declan Rice signing and sell Fred - pundit
Frank McAvennie claims Fred will be sold by Manchester United if the club moves for Declan Rice.
The former Hammers hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted it should be Fred, not Scott McTominay, who makes way for Rice.
On 1st July The Telegraph reported Rice has turned down two new contract offers this summer.
Rice’s current West Ham deal runs until the summer of 2024.
The midfielder is currently impressing at Euro 2020 and could start in the final against Italy on Sunday.
McTominay and Fred have played at Euro 2020 and the Copa America for Scotland and Brazil respectively.

McAvennie claims Man United will move for Rice and Fred could be replaced as a result.
“McTominay has been doing really well for them,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m a big fan of his, I’m not sure Rice would be a huge improvement.
“He’ll walk into the Manchester United team but would he get in ahead of McTominay?
“I think you play them together. They already have Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Fred there.
“Maybe Fred is the one to go because it would be pointless to sign Rice and get rid of McTominay. He’s the weak link there.
“I can’t see West Ham letting him go for cheap like they did with Sancho.
“They got him for a lot less than Dortmund wanted last season. It was another year on and there is everything with Covid.
“West Ham won’t let Rice go for cheap but he would be a great addition for Man United.”
Fred, 28, made 48 appearances in all competitions last season.
Manchester United announced their capture of Jadon Sancho on July 1st.
