Alan Hutton suggests that Aston Villa starlet Callum O’Hare may be pricing himself out of a future at the club.
The former Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggests the club will be working hard on getting the promising midfielder to sign a new contract before his current agreement expires in the summer.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the Villans has so far failed in their efforts to tie the attacking midfielder down to a new deal.
With the Coventry City loanee available for a compensation fee this summer, it is understood the club are set to make a new attempt to keep him at the club.
Hutton, who has tipped O’Hare to be the next breakthrough talent at Villa Park, suggests playing time could play a big factor in whether the youngster commits to a future at Villa Park.
Asked if Villa would be doing everything they can to keep O’Hare on board, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think they’ll try – we don’t know the offers so it’s difficult to judge.
“It’s whether he sees himself going back to Villa and playing or not and likewise the other way, if Villa think he’ll play. I believe he’s got talent, he’s got something different.
“He can change a game, he’s done well out on loan so I think they’ll want to keep him but on the other hand, if demands are too high it’s a difficult one. Maybe they see the offer they’ve given him is the level he’s at and maybe he doesn’t.”
O’Hare, a graduate of the Villans’ youth academy, has just nine first-team appearances under his belt for the club.
He has been a mainstay on loan at Coventry, playing 39 times across all competitions for the Sky Blues.
