Exclusive: Ally McCoist reacts amid Rangers-to-Leeds feeder club fears for takeover
Ally McCoist has confronted concerns that 49ers Enterprises’ ownership of Leeds United could see Rangers become a feeder club for the English side after the takeover at Ibrox is completed.
The former Gers striker, who now works in football punditry, told Football Insider that the Light Blues are “far too big” to be used to the Championship side’s advantage once the takeover is complete.
With the American Franchise’s deal being spearheaded by Leeds’ Paraag Marathe, alongside healthcare mogul Andrew Cavenagh, supporters have drawn clear links between the two clubs.
Simon Jordan highlighted the Leeds concern for Rangers, with Daniel Farke about to take the Whites back to the Premier League, but McCoist has quickly squashed those fears.

Rangers takeover in full swing as San Francisco 49ers close in
Rangers’ takeover could be just weeks away, with excitement beginning to build at Ibrox over the potential for new investment, which in turn would make for better performances on the pitch.
The Gers have experienced an incredibly difficult campaign in the Scottish Premiership, falling 16 points behind rivals Celtic, which has already seen Philippe Clement lose his job at Rangers.
However, supporters now have a reason to remain positive until the end of the season, and McCoist has done his best to fight back any concerns over the potential takeover in Glasgow.

Leeds United unlikely to use Light Blues to feed Daniel Farke’s squad
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider via talkSPORT BET on the feeder club risk, McCoist said: “My answer would be no, I don’t think, with the greatest of respects… I have ties to Leeds United, going back to some great games in the 90s, but I think Rangers are far too big an entity to become a feeder club to anyone, really.
“I’m not saying they’re not a selling club – there’s a difference. Rangers, Celtic, and the vast majority of teams in the Premier League are selling clubs. Just look at Brighton, who have used it incredibly well, and I think gone are the days of Rangers and Celtic fans that their clubs are the end of the road for top talents.

“Finances would indicate teams at the top of the Premier League, the creme de la creme, your City’s and Liverpool’s, that would effectively be the holy grail outside Saudi.
“I am not saying for a minute that Rangers wouldn’t be a selling club because they have to be, but I can’t see them becoming a feeding club.”
