Exclusive: Arsenal launch shock move to sign West Ham 27-yr-old
Arsenal have set their sights on a shock move for West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson, Football Insider can reveal.
The Brazil international slipped down the pecking order at the London Stadium post-lockdown and his future at the club is shrouded in major doubt.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of Anderson, 27, and is looking at him as a top target to strengthen his own side’s attack.
The Gunners believe that West Ham’s desire to offload senior stars to raise much-needed cash gives them a chance of luring the wide forward.
Football Insider revealed in June the Londoners are looking to cash in on Anderson following the devastating financial impact of the pandemic.
West Ham paid a then club-record £36million rising to £42m for Anderson to lure him from Lazio two years ago.

They want to recoup much of that fee as he is at the prime of his career and has two years remaining on his contract as well as an option in the club’s favour of another 12 months.
West Ham then plan to use some of the cash to strengthen other areas of their squad.
Anderson flew out to Italy earlier this month to discuss a potential return to Lazio but no deal has been agreed.
The forward had an impression debut campaign following his arrival in the summer of 2018, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists from 40 matches.
But he was a fringe figure following the June restart as Moyes put his faith in those he felt were more reliable as West Ham escaped relegation.
Anderson scored just once and assisted five times from 27 appearances in all competitions in 2019-20.
