Arsenal midfielder Ben Sheaf has agreed a deal to join Doncaster Rovers on loan, Football Insider understands.
The Gunners academy product, 21, is set to become Darren Moore’s first signing since taking charge of Doncaster earlier this week.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Sheaf is expected to sign a six-month loan deal at the Keepmoat Stadium after holding talks with Moore about a switch to the northern club.
This comes after Football Insider revealed last month that League One outfit Doncaster have opened talks with Arsenal about signing Sheaf on loan for next season.
A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in taking Sheaf on loan ahead of next season, but Doncaster have moved quickly to settle a deal with Arsenal.
Moore regards Sheaf’s pedigree and versatility as real assets and hopes he can help them go better than their sixth-place finish last season and secure automatic promotion.
Sheaf is some way down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium and spent the entirety of last season in the Under-23s as he failed to see any first-team action under Unai Emery.
This comes after he spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at League Two club Stevenage.
Sheaf, who is an England youth international and represented the country at Under-18 and Under-16 levels, joined Arsenal from West Ham’s academy in 2014.
In other Arsenal news, Danny Mills has told Football Insider why he can’t believe ‘ridiculous’ Gunners bid.
