Arsenal sensation Folarin Balogun has agreed in principle to join RB Leipzig, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Bundesliga big hitters are in line to win the race for the striker, 19, in what is a huge blow to the Premier League club.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Balogun is set to sign a pre-contract with Leipzig and will join them in the summer on a free transfer.
He is out of contract at the Gunners at the end of the season.
Manager Mikel Arteta claimed last week that Arsenal had offered Balogun a long-term contract and that the youngster was keen to sign him.
But he is now set to become the latest young player to swap a Premier League club for one of the Bundesliga giants.
Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga and face Liverpool in the Champions League round-of-16 next month.
Balogun is regarded as one of the brightest youngsters to graduate from the Gunners’ academy in recent years.
The England Under-20 international has already scored two senior goals, both in the Europa League, but is still waiting for his Premier League debut.
Mikel Arteta told the media in December that Balogun “wants to stay at the club so hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract”.
Arsenal fans have been nervous for some time about the prospect of Balogun leaving for good either in January or at the end of the season.
He has played five times for the first team, scoring two goals and supplying one assist.
