Exclusive: Aston Villa backed to re-sign PL giants ace ahead of Leeds
Alan Hutton admits he would love to see Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe return to Aston Villa as he is linked with a move to Leeds United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Villa and Scotland star has urged his old side to re-sign the centre-back ahead of Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Leeds, with the Athletic’s Phil Hay reporting that the Manchester United youngster is a name mentioned in the Whites’ hunt for a new centre-back.
Would expect Leeds to keep their powder dry for a little while now. But still want someone who fits the winger/number 10 mould (no second bid for Kent so far). And I wonder if Bielsa will soften on an extra centre-back. Man Utd’s Axel Tuanzebe a name that’s been mentioned. #lufc

Tuanzebe, a graduate of the Manchester United youth ranks, spent a season-and-a-half on loan at Villa Park between January 2018 and May 2019.
Hutton admits he expected to see his old teammate push on into the senior side at Old Trafford and insists he would love to see him back playing for Villa if he is to leave the Red Devils.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I’d actually like to see him back at Villa, if I’m being honest.

“I’m really surprised he hasn’t had more opportunities in the Man United first team. I know he’s had injuries and I think this season he was tipped to be on the verge of breaking through, he was in a lot of squads but obviously injury upset that.
“He’s a really exciting young player. I was hoping Villa got him after last season but it didn’t quite work out.”
Tuanzebe played a total of 36 times for Villa and helped the club seal promotion back to the Premier League in 2019.
He has just 18 appearances under his belt for Manchester United to date, 10 of which he made last season.
In other Aston Villa news, Hutton has shared a “Massive” transfer claim after a big news update.
