Darren Bent has tipped Tyrone Mings leave and John McGinn to stay at Aston Villa this summer.
The former Villa and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the 27-year-old defender will be in high demand after his performances for both club and country over the past 12 months.
As revealed by Football Insider in mid-July, Everton made an approach to sign Mings this summer, although that was when the Villans’ Premier League future hung in the balance.
Bent believes that Mings could be on the move this summer but suggests that star midfielder John McGinn will remain at Villa Park after his first season in the Premier League.
Bent told Football Insider: “I can see Tyrone Mings potentially going, I think that he’s had an okay season and with the real lack of centre-halves that are out there at the minute, he is what you call a proper defender, I think there is a place for him there.
“I can potentially see him leaving but I think John McGinn will stay – he’s had a bit of a disruptive season, he had the injuries, he still doesn’t look fully fit so I can see him staying.
“As far as Mings, I think Mings might be on the move.”
Mings played 33 times in the Premier League last season as the Villans secured their top-flight survival on the final day of the campaign.
McGinn meanwhile picked up an ankle injury in December which kept him out of action until the top flight restart in June.
