Darren Bent raved about Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish and claimed that the 24-year-old has a great chance at becoming unstoppable.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Villans forward shared that he thought if opponents manage to shut down Grealish in games then they have a good opportunity of grabbing a positive result.
Grealish has scored four goals and registered four assists across the 12 outings he has made this season but has missed the Villans’ last two league games due to injury.
Bent suggested that if Grealish could just add a few more assists as well as goals to his games then he will be unstoppable and even noted that he thought the Villans captain was better on the ball than Leicester City star James Maddison.
When asked about the importance of Grealish, Bent told Football Insider: “Everything they do, goes through him, it runs through him if you shut him down, you give yourself a great chance but the way he is playing at the minute, it’s easier said than done.
“He’s playing really well, not unstoppable but if he adds goals to his game and maybe a few more assists than yeah he will be unstoppable.
“You’d probably compare him to Maddison as he’s getting goals and assists, but Grealish is better on the ball, if he adds them to his game then I think he has a great opportunity.”
Grealish has only contributed three goals and four assists across the 44 Premier League appearances he has made during his career.
The Birmingham-born playmaker has been at Villa for the whole of his career, rising through the club’s youth ranks, and is contracted to stay at Villa Park until 2023.
