Blackburn Rovers striker Joe Nuttall is a target for Blackpool, Football Insider understands.

The 22-year-old has found himself featuring for Blackburn's Under-23s so far this pre-season and Rovers boss Tony Mowbray could be willing to let him move on.

A source at the Tangerines has told Football Insider that new boss Simon Grayson is keen to bring in a new forward before the close of the transfer window and has targeted a move for Nuttall.

Nuttall faces a battle to get into the Blackburn starting XI next season following the big-money arrival of Sam Gallagher from Southampton earlier this summer.

The centre-forward was used as backup to the first-team last season, with two games in the starting XI from his 15 Championship appearances, and Gallagher's arrival is set to push him further down the pecking order at Ewood Park.

Nuttall has made 37 first-team appearances for Blackburn since arriving from Aberdeen in 2017, scoring three goals in 18 outings across all competitions last term.
