Borussia Dortmund remain hot on the heels of Everton wonderkid Anthony Gordon despite having a summer bid rejected for him, Football Insider can reveal.

The German giants were knocked back in their move for the attacking midfielder, 18, after watching him closely in action for the Everton and England youth teams.

A German source has told Football Insider that Dortmund still want Gordon in January even though he signed a new four-year deal with the Merseysiders in March and their summer offer was knocked back.

The teenager is regarded as the outstanding young player at Goodison and the one best equipped to not only break into the first team, but stay there.

He regularly trains with the Everton first team and it was instructive that he was named on the substitute’s bench for the first time this season for Saturday’s 2-1 win at Southampton.

Gordon has an excellent record for David Unsworth’s Under-23s side, scoring six times and supplying three assists this season.

Able to play on both flanks, as well as spearhead the attack, the wonderkid is regarded by many observers as destined for the very top.

Everton are very keen that will take place for their senior side, but they are wary of how German clubs have raided Premier League clubs for youthful English talent in recent years.

Ademola Lookman was signed by RB Leipzig from Everton in the summer window for £22.5million following a lengthy pursuit.

Gordon made his debut for the Everton senior team two seasons ago in a dead-rubber Europa League group stage game away at Apollon Limassol, coming on for the last few minutes.

He has not added to that single appearance but has been capped by England at Under-19 level and has now clocked up 25 Under-23s appearances for his club.

In other Everton news, it can be REVEALED that the club are willing to sell senior star in January amid Real Madrid interest.
