Bournemouth are in pole position to sign Manchester City defender Joel Latibeaudiere on a season-long loan, Football Insider.
The Cherries are in the market for a new centre-back after Nathan Ake left Dean Court to join the Premier League giants in a £40million-plus move and have identified the England under-20 international as an ideal replacement.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Luton Town and Bristol City are also keen on signing the 20-year-old but that Jason Tindall’s men currently lead the hunt for his capture.
Latibeaudiere, a graduate of the Manchester City academy, is yet to feature for the senior side under Pep Guardiola but spent last season out on loan at Dutch outfit FC Twente.
The youngster played six times for the Eredivisie side, primarily as a right-back, and managed to score once and chip in with a further assist.
He has also worked his way through the England youth ranks and captained the Young Lions to the Under-17s World Cup back in 2017.
Having returned from his spell in the Netherlands, the promising defender is now looking to challenge himself in the Championship and has a handful of sides chasing his capture.
Bournemouth, who saw star defender Ake return to the Premier League with City following the Cherries’ relegation, have identified Latibeaudiere as similar in playing style and height to their former ace and believe he could fill the void in defence.
Manager Tindall currently has the likes of Steve Cook, Chris Mepham and Jack Simpson as his centre-back options.
