Burnley and Brighton have opened talks to sign Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana on a free transfer, Football Insider can reveal.
Leicester City have been the frontrunners to sign the 32-year-old, who is leaving Anfield at the end of this season.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Burnley and Brighton are both working on deals to beat Leicester to Lallana.
They are keen to offer long-term deals as they look to add more creative flair to their sides in the upcoming window.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Leicester had opened talks with Lallana and were confident of agreeing terms after tabling a lucrative contract offer.
The swoops from Burnley and Brighton suggest the midfielder may be having some doubt about a move to the King Power Stadium and a reunion with Brendan Rodgers, who lured him from Southampton to Anfield in 2014.
Lallana is leaving Liverpool after being on the fringes of the team over the last two seasons, in which they have won the Premier League and Champions League.
Ex-Leicester coach Kevin Phillips told Football Insider last month he’s convinced Lallana will snub other clubs to move to the King Power Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp has spoken gushingly of Lallana in the past, hailing him as a “pure joy to watch” and “incredible” a year ago as he worked his way back to full fitness.
Lallana has stayed fit in this campaign but has made just three Premier League starts among his 22 appearances in all competitions and has failed to make the matchday squad since the restart.
In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that the club are hopeful of clinching two new deals in the coming weeks as one already agreed.
