Bristol City have offered midfielder Kasey Palmer in a potential swap deal for Charlton Athletic forward Lyle Taylor, Football Insider understands.
The Robins are in the market for striking reinforcements before the close of the transfer window and Addicks ace Taylor is high among their list of transfer targets.
A source at Bristol City has told Football Insider that the club have suggested exchanging Palmer, 23, to their Championship rivals in a bid to persuade them to do a deal this month.
The Robins have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah this month and they see Taylor, who has scored seven goals in 13 games this season, as a viable alternative.
Taylor’s future at Charlton is uncertain with the forward out of contract this summer, the club pulling their offer of a new deal off the table after he failed to meet a deadline on accepting the terms.
Lee Bowyer’s side are reluctant to lose their star striker during this month’s transfer window as they battle to secure survival in the Championship, but they could be forced to cash-in on him rather than risk allowing him to run down his contract.
