Rangers star Alfredo Morelos could join an English club of the stature of Leicester City.
That is according to ex-Premier League midfielder Michael Brown, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Scottish giants’ prize asset.
The Colombia international has been in outstanding form this season, hitting 29 goals in all competitions so far, although his productivity has notably dipped since the winter break.
Brown is a big admirer of Morelos, and believes he would be of interest to clubs in the top half of the Premier League
The former Tottenham, Man City and Leeds United midfielder told Football Insider: “You come here (England) and where do you go? Mid-ranger (in the table?) A Burnley, or does he go higher, could he go to Leicester? It’s possible.
“That’s all I’m saying is, where does he go to have that same thing he has at Rangers or does he try and stay there and be a true legend?”
The Daily Record reported earlier this month that Rangers have opened talks with Morelos’ representatives over a fresh contract with improved terms.
Morelos attracted attention in the January transfer window, with Football Insider revealing that both Tottenham and Inter Milan were keen to snap him up.
Brown suggested that the controversy that surrounds Morelos could have an impact on suitors and the price the would be willing to pay.
“At what fee and who takes him because of the uncertainty surrounding him? I wonder what financial position Rangers are in?” he added to Football Insider.
“Some players find it hard to leave there. They’re fully worshipped, aren’t they, there’s no better place to be?
“You’ll never have that (at other clubs), you’re like a superstar there.”
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club are in advanced talks to agree new defender deal.
