Alex Bruce has lauded Tottenham ace Harry Kane for his performances since the Premier League’s return and has shot down the striker’s critics.
The former Leeds and Hull defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists it is “absolutely ridiculous” that people were questioning the 26-year-old following his comeback from injury.
The England hitman netted Spurs’ second in the 2-0 win over West Ham on Tuesday, meaning the Lilywhites have picked up four points from their first two games since the restart.
Bruce has lauded Kane for his performances after a lengthy injury layoff and has torn into the striker’s critics.
Bruce told Football Insider: “The one person who stood out the other night, because of all the criticism which I thought I was absolutely ridiculous, was Harry Kane.
“The way he bounced back showed his strength with a great finish and good composure in front of goal in the last minutes of the game. To go and burst through and slot it into the back of the net showed what a quality player he is.
“He’s been out for a long period of time and to have criticism after just one game I thought was ridiculous.”
Kane has now netted 18 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham, with Tuesday’s strike his 12th in the Premier League.
Spurs’ next game sees them take on Sheffield United next week.
